Il M/Y Diablo è nato per soddisfare le specifiche richieste del suo armatore, che desiderava un'imbarcazione molto veloce ma con tutti i comfort di una barca da diporto.

Abbiamo così progettato, con l'assistenza della ZF e dell'ing. Buzzi che ci hanno fornito le trasmissioni e i timoni Trimax, uno scafo molto leggero dotato di tutti gli accorgimenti necessari a garantire alte velocità (poppa particolare, flap flessibili, step, etc.).

I fasciami di scafo e coperta sono stati realizzati in sandwich di kevlar e balsa con resine vinilesteri, mentre le strutture sono in kevlar e vetro.

Tutto l'allestimento è stato progettato e costruito con la massima attenzione ai pesi, senza però rinunciare alle caratteristiche di una comoda barca da diporto.

I motori, due MTU 12V 2000 M90 da 1450 CV l'uno, spingono due eliche di superficie e sono dotati di scarichi immersi i cui profili d'uscita sono frutto di numerose sperimentazioni atte a ridurre il più possibile le contropressioni. Anche la regolazione degli scarichi di minimo sui fianchi, provvisti di valvole parzializzatrici, hanno richiesto diverse ore di prove; il loro contributo è infatti richiesto, in parte, anche alle velocità intermedie.

Per la pitturazione dello scafo l'armatore ha scelto una vernice particolare contenente pigmenti metallici che producono un effetto cangiante al variare della luce.

Il risultato del nostro lavoro è stata una barca comoda in porto e all'ancora, dalle linee accattivanti e dalle prestazioni impegnative alle massime velocità.

M/Y Diablo is born to satisfy the particular requests of its shipowner: he wanted a very fast boat with all the comfort of a pleasure yacht.

So we planned, with the assistance of ZF and eng. Buzzi suppliers of the Trimax system, a very light hull equipped with all the necessary expedients to perform high speeds (special stern, flexible flaps, steps, etc.).

The plating of hull and deck have been built in kevlar and balsa sandwich with vinilester resins, and the structures are in kevlar and glass.

All the interior and exterior fittings have been planned and built with high attention to weights, without renouncing to the characteristics of a comfortable pleasure boat.

The engines, two MTU 12V 2000 M90 of 1450 HP each, thrust two surface propellers and are provided with submerged discharges, whose trailing profiles are the result of many experiments done in order to minimize the back pressures. Also the adjustment of the minimum discharges, provided with choking valves, requested various hours of trials; their  contribution is needed, partially, also in intermediate speeds.

For the painting, the shipowner chose a particular paint containing metal pigments which produces an iridescent effect at the varying of the light.

The result of our work has been a comfortable boat in harbour and at the anchor, with engaging lines and challenging performances at maximum speeds.
